Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) Induction Program, 23-27th September 2019. Parents Are The Primary Gatekeepers Of Their Children’s Health. The Behavior Of Parents Especially Mothers Affects Their Children’s Health. Hence, we took the opportunity to educate the staff of BIRS about chronic illnesses like High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) and Diabetes Mellitus both of which have very high mortality and morbidity rates. Research finds that children whose parents have specific health problems or behaviors are more likely to have the same health problems. Also, the absence of a parent due to sickness or death affects the whole family especially younger children.
